The traditional drink of Colombia is Chicha. Fermented corn with sugar or sugar cane. If it's served fresh, it's considered a non-alcoholic drink. After fermenting and placing it in the refrigerator several hours, it becomes a very strong alcoholic drink.

Local rum is quite good and economical. The most popular brands are Ron viejo de Caldas, ron tres esquinas andron Medellín anejo. The most popular way to drink rum in Colombia is with Coca Cola or mixed with water, lime, sugar and cinnamon. Or, if you like a strong drink, on the rocks will do!

Another of Colombia's most popular drinks is aguardiente. There are two kinds of aguardiente: with or without anise. The most popular aguardiente brands are Cristal and Antioqueno.

The most popular non-alcoholic drinks in Colombia are:

Fruit Juices : Whatever you do, don't miss out on Colombia's phenomenal fruit juices like Mango or Lulo in milk. Other favorites are: sour sop, Borojo, Níspero, coastal Zapote, Feijoa, sour guava, passion fruit, Badea and Curuba.

Shampoo: A typical drink from Cauca Valle made of fruits and milk.

Fruit Salad : A mixture of fruit with orange juice and a touch of condensed milk.

SnowCones: Crushed ice with fruit juice and condensed milk.

Aguapanela: Water with melted sugar cane -- great for those chilly evenings. And it has more vitamins and minerals than gatorade.

The brand of Colombian sodas with the most tradition in the country is called Postobon. Two of the most traditional drinks in Colombia are Pony Malta and Colombiana.
